In the mid-1930's Dame Gracie Fields CBE (1898-1979) was the UK's most successful female variety artist who at the height of her fame was the highest earning female performer in the world and she became a superstar before the word had even been invented. Performed by two actors this intimate show recounts Gracie's 75-year career detailing her tough northern upbringing, her three marriages, her life-threatening illness and how she was unjustly vilified by the British press during World War Two.
'Gracie' debuted to critical acclaim in Brighton in 2025 and received four nominations in the 25/26 Fringe Theatre Awards. Featuring 14 songs from Gracie's career, the show paints a moving portrait of a big-hearted, no-nonsense woman who made a lasting impression on British culture and on the people she encountered in her extraordinary life.
