False Accounts

False Accounts

From award-winning playwright Lance Nielsen, False Accounts is a darkly satirical take on the British Post Office Scandal.

In 1999, the Horizon IT system was introduced to UK Post Offices - flawed from the start. Hundreds of Postmasters were wrongly held liable for financial shortfalls, driving many to ruin and even prison.

From award-winning playwright Lance Nielsen, False Accounts is a darkly satirical take on Britain’s biggest miscarriage of justice. First performed in 2022, this powerful, thought-provoking production returns to the stage, giving a voice to those affected and exposing this national scandal.

  • "Thought-provoking and moving… heartbreakingly real." – Bum on a Seat
  • "We sat there, completely engaged. A very powerful play!" – Former Subpostmaster Wendy Buffrey
  • "Essential viewing for anyone with a professional interest in this subject or anyone who wants to learn more about this appalling scandal." – Ian Henderson, Second Sight
