Calendar Girls the Musical, written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, is the award-winning musical based on the 2003 film Calendar girls which was based on a true story.

When Annie’s husband dies from leukaemia, she teams up with her close friend Chris to buy a comfortable sofa for the visitor’s room at the hospital where he was treated. They have an idea of printing a calendar to raise the funds, featuring some of the members of the Knapely branch of the Women’s institute. A calendar with a difference as each of the traditional activities would be depicted by one of the ladies discreetly posing in the nude.

Their proposal is initially met with great scepticism, but eventually Chris convinces them to participate. The musical tells the heart-warming and inspiring story of friendship and support within a group of ladies who achieved something extraordinary.

 

Coleshill on Stage

Coleshill On Stage are a musical company, founded in 1908, who regularly perform popular shows around Coleshill and at The Core, Solihull. They are a fun and friendly society, and welcome others to join them in staging productions that the audience and members of the cast will enjoy.

They recently won an award for a previous production of Calendar Girls, earning the title of Best Drama in Region 6. They look forward to performing another fantastic version of the musical at The Core Theatre Solihull in September!
